I thought I had found image-manipulating Nirvana with GimpShop. But the wide world of open source software and the Linux community failed me this week. My quest for a better GIMP tool to give me a Photoshop-like Windows experience turned into a fool’s folly. Actually, my faith in the Linux OS is still intact. But my disappointment in not finding salvation from resorting to a return to Microsoft Windows caused me to question my decision years ago to convert to Linuxism.
Jack,
Be advised that both the "Gimpshop" and "GIMPhoto" projects were abandoned many many months ago, but that GIMPshop is being squatted on by someone who's pushing an ad-banner toolbar. :( I was trying to find if there was an official gimp plugin to rearrange the UI the way gimpshop did, but it looks like www.gimp.org is down.
GIMP is not Photoshop. Quit trying to make it Photoshop, quit trying to compare it to Photoshop, learn GIMP as it is and you may be pleasantly surprised that it is a powerful image manipulation software.
