In a computing world distracted by distro overload, Linux Lite is a lightweight Linux OS that has no trouble handling a heavy workload. Long gone are the days when it took hours to install and set up Linux on a computer, but most Linux distros still need a bit of configuration to adjust the massive desktop options to your liking. Not so with Linux Lite. It is one of the few out-of-the-box experiences I have had in testing Linux distros that let me actually be up set up and working in under five minutes.
As a Linux user (Ubuntu and Fedora) I found the article on Linux Lite compelling. Enough so that I decided to install it on my HP laptop for a spin of my own. I was especially curious about the boot time and the prompting for my wireless access settings, as I found both statements to be impressive.
My initial bootup after installation took approximately three minutes. Not quite the 30 seconds the author experienced. But once up, the OS has performed everthing i have asked of it quickly with good graphics and response time.
On the second reported experience of prompting for wireless credentials, I did not receive that, but rather had to configure my network the old fashioned manual way.
