If you have yet to try the developing Budgie desktop, the latest release of Ubuntu Budgie is a perfect opportunity to experience a classy and user-friendly computing platform. Budgie is one of the first home-grown Linux distros to release its latest version based on Ubuntu 18.04. The independent developer announced Ubuntu Budgie 18.04 last week, coinciding with Canonical’s release of Ubuntu 18.04 LTS the same week. Canonical also offers a Budgie desktop option in Ubuntu Linux. However, the two Ubuntu-branded distros are not the same thing.
I think Ubuntu Budgie offers the best Budgie desktop experience there is. I also agree that the latest release is a much better remix.
Despite its lack of animations, I find it quite polished and elegant. It's also blazing fast. I've been using it on an older laptop I have that servers as my 'road warrior' and have encountered no issues.
On top of everything else I am liking about Ubuntu Budgie is that beautiful icon theme. Icon uniformity is something I have come to appreciate and Ubuntu Budgie nailed it on that.
