If there was ever a year for train wrecks, 2011 was it. It is that time when we look back at the screwy decisions executives made last year, and be thankful that we aren’t them. There were a number of career-limiting moves last year that warrant a top spot on my Bozo meter. HP and Cisco are contenders, with their Touchpad and Flip flops, but there’s another company more deserving of the crown — one that under-marketed its new OS, starved to death its major TV initiative, failed the city of Los Angeles, betrayed a dying mentor, and has a parade of companies accusing it of theft: Google.
to surprise us all. It is quite unpredictable. How about an on-premises edition of their multi-tenant productivity suite? That might be quite a success! Ok, I won't hold my breath either, it would be quite a quantum leap, for Google to actually support its software, as opposed to just running it.
