Microsoft is once again being challenged in Europe over alleged anti-competitive practices. A group representing Linux developers in Spain has filed a complaint with the European Commission charging that Microsoft’s desktop operating system, Windows 8, supports technology that makes it difficult for users to place other operating systems on their computers. The complaint comes less than three weeks after the EC fined Microsoft $730 million for breaking an agreement.
So why is it that every other OS vendor has to goto M$ for cert's" M$ did not write the code for UEFI!
Why can't an independant cert vendor be established because to me the prospect of 1 OS vendor going to the largest OS vendor to obtain access to UEFI is just wrong!
What is there to stop M$ from increasing the price of the UEFI cert to such a high price that the other OS vendors effectively cannot obtain a cert?
Apple have been using UEFI for some years now but nobody mentions them in all this.
M$ are only in this for profit & they will control this to increase their profit, So this UEFI cert issuing needs to be taken away from M$ asap. Obvious choice would be to allow OEM's & hardware manufacturers issue the cert's.
Considering how long Apple have been using UEFI why were they not allowed to issue cert's, after all they have been in UEFI longer!
