Facebook on Monday released transparency reports of government requests for its users’ data. Privacy groups hailed the move as a positive step forward — rare praise for the company, which has had a checkered relationship with those groups over the years. Facebook’s Global Government Requests Report shows that of the more than 70 countries requesting user information from Facebook, the United States, by far, was the biggest peeper. Nearly half — 45 percent — of some 26,600 government requests for Facebook user information came from the U.S.
www.facebook.com has long been stepping over the social marketing boundary of personal information for public display. Their user agreement is nothing short of stating " If you use our service, we will distribute everything about your life to anyone" it is sad that a Giant like FB needs to operate under such policy
