How do you make Dish Network’s Hopper HD-DVR system even better? That’s easy — you supersize it. Introduced earlier this year at CES, Super Joey has officially arrived, and for TV fans it more than lives up to its “super” moniker. Utilizing the same Hopper and Sling technology as previous versions, it now increases the recording power. The Joey units, basically room extenders to the Dish set-top box, allow viewers to watch live or recorded TV around the house — but only six programs at once. Enter Super Joey.
Peter,
The Hopper and Hopper with Sling do not, in fact contain 6 tuners. They only have three. They are capable of recording 6 programs simultaneously IF 4 of those programs are on the four major networks, i.e. ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX because those four channels share one of the tuners at all times. Otherwise, the system in only capable of recording three separate programs at a time. I agree with you that the Super Joey is a great leap forward, in that it will alleviate a lot of the tuner confllicts that our customers have experienced, particularly in 4 or 5 tv homes. Those with 6 or more TV's are better off getting two Hoppers, and a total of 6 tuners. Other configurations are also possible. Don't mean to step on your toes, but I felt it neccessary to clarify the info you were providing to the public.
Thanks
