Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak recently said removing the headphone jack in the next version of the iPhone is going to “tick off a lot of people.” It’s been rumored for months that Apple would be scrapping the 3.5 mm headphone jack in the iPhone 7 expected next week. Such a move could upset users who have invested in listening technology that uses the jack, Wozniak said. Ditching the headphone jack could be the prelude to another rumored new product: Bluetooth earbuds based on a very-low-powered radio chip developed exclusively by Apple.
Don't use "audiophile" and "ear buds" in the same article.
Apple is all about marketing. Eliminating the jack is of no concern for Apple. It's about marketing new products, accessories, and providing what Apple considers as advancing the product. This is nothing new, Apple has always managed to dump ports for the purpose of installing new ones.
In iPhone's this is purely about selling higher priced wireless headphones. Especially since Apple purchased Beats. What Woz says is absolutely true, many have invested in other products that use the 3.5 mm jack and beyond that a wired headphone for many is a better choice than bluetooth. Not every iPhone owner is wealthy enough to buy a wireless solution especially if they have invested in a good wired head set. Why should I buy more products to fix something Apple decided I didn't need? My experience with bluetooth has been good and bad. Sometimes the bluetooth doesn't work, or I have to deal with another device to charge or keep batteries in. Sorry Apple, your needs to sell more products many times don't jive with my needs.
