Although the cloud marketplace is growing rapidly, the current rate of growth will continue only if a broader set of strong channel companies emerge to extend the reach of today’s cloud leaders into new industries and geographies. I’ve been suggesting for years that building more channels to market for cloud vendors is essential to the growth of the industry. This issue came to the forefront again recently when I spoke to two groups of employees of the British Columbia government and a group of entrepreneurs at an incubator in Vancouver.
Jeffrey,
I could not agree with you more. The opportunity and the timing for the Canadian market is now and who better to serve the Canadian market than a Canadian based cloud company. The concerns our customers have about cloud computing are real and need to be addressed.
Many of our partners are looking for the same cloud company to help them service the market. These needs cannot always be met by US firms due to some of the challenges you outlined in this article.
Those who service the Canadian market need to understand that a wholey owened and operated network and datacenter in Canada is critical to success. Few companies can deliver that today but the ones who are there already can deliver them are reputable and dependable service. It is all about partnering with the right one to suit their needs.
One size does not fit all when it comes to the cloud. You should not trust your data or business services to anyone. There are over 33k hosting providers with over $1m in revenue globally. Choosing the right partner based on your needs and scalability is critical to any companies long term success and security.
