What is going on with Sprint Softbank? What will the company look like when it finally emerges from its cocoon? Who else will it merge with? Where will it be based? There has been quite a bit of transformational work going on. Sprint and Softbank won U.S. government approval after months of vigorous debate and got together last summer. It once seemed doubtful the merger would happen, yet it did. Then Sprint Softbank went quiet. It started rebuilding the Sprint network. It said that it would emerge as one of the industry’s leaders.
Jeff, good stuff. However, let me throw this at you. Just food for thought. The top 2 telecoms both have the ability to provide the user with movies. I have been saying for the last 2 years that DISH and Sprint will soon marry. Sprint is the only telecom (top three) that doesn't have this to offer the user. I call it the trifecta (Telephone, Internet, cable) But as you are probabaly aware, Dish sweeped the Spectrum sale from the Fed's and it was reported on monday that they made out like a bandit. The Sprectum they bought was more of that Spectrum Sprint has....hum interesting isn't it. Plus, you probably also know that DISH and Sprint have a working relationship right now in Corpus Christi where they are testing HIGH SPEED download on their Super Fast TDD speedway! Remember, it was tested out with China Mobile at 150+ MBPS. We are talking fast. Plus, IMHO the relationship between Sprint/DISH/Softbank runs really deep. Japanese company do and run their businesses totally different then the way we run business here in the USA. I can go on and on and talk about the relationship the three have, but I'm not really sure you have the time. Anyways, my bet is on the three without T-Mobile. Don't forget that DISH has Satellites...aka: terrestrial network which could provide free worldwide roaming!
