Ballmer’s other duties have become too pressing for him to focus on Microsoft, he wrote in a letter addressed to CEO Satya Nadella. “I think it would be impractical for me to continue to serve on the board, and it is best for me to move off,” Ballmer said, citing his recent purchase of the Clippers, along with civic work, teaching and other responsibilities.
