Terry Myerson, head of Microsoft’s operating systems unit, disclosed the marketing strategy last week at the WinHEC summit in Shenzhen, China.
Microsoft previously announced that it would upgrade users to Windows 10 for free for the first year following its release. Some 74 percent of all commercial software used in China is pirated, according to BSA.
