WhatsApp on Thursday announced an update to its terms and privacy policy — the first in four years. Among other things, the changes will affect the ways users can communicate with businesses while continuing to avoid third-party banner ads or spam messages, according to the company. However, WhatsApp will begin to share some personal details about its 1 billion users — such as phone numbers and other data — with Facebook, its parent company. The information sharing will permit better tracking of basic metrics.
With this acquisition (whatsApp with Facebook) it seems that alot has been changed on WhatsApp. With time social mobile apps are gaining momentum and why not as these applications help in making the relations better among the peers, however what matters is data security and privacy. While facebook agrees that the data will not be shared, it also means that it need to gear up the security so that the data remains absolutely safe. I hope this will be taken care of by FaceBook.
