Cable giant Comcast increased the amount of attention directed toward broadband Internet services this week by announcing it had picked up nearly a half-million high-speed Internet customers in the last quarter — a 39 percent gain from last year’s third quarter. Comcast credited “integration success” for its gains in broadband Internet and video subscribers and increased its expectations for the number of high-speed customers to 5 million by the end of the year.
