The number of security holes poked in computer software may be leveling off as vendors scramble to make their products more secure, but the vulnerabilities that are found these days — despite these efforts — are more severe. New vulnerabilities increasingly are being leveraged to attack companies and consumers with worms that threaten confidentiality and privacy, according to Symantec’s latest “Internet Security Threat Report.” The antivirus giant said software attacks are aiming increasingly at core components of the widely used Windows operating system from Microsoft.
I always wonder why none of these media news stories about Viruses dont mention the fact that simply using alternative products to IE, Outlook and even windows will greatly reduce your risk of exposure. If IE is so flawed, use Mozilla, Opera etc Instead of Outlook, use Thunderbird. There is a world outside Microsoft with superiour products Just once I would like someone to say, "Linux and Mac users are not effected" on a prime time TV-media news bulliten. no wonder we are starting to refer to these people as "Microsoft Zombified" If my car was constantly breaking down, I'd eventually get sick of it and buy a new one. The same cannot be said of Microsoft users. Gordon Staines
