As I was working up my impressions of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas last week, one thing became painfully clear: The most important vendor, from the standpoint of interest, wasn’t even there. Not since the beginning of the PC era has Apple had this much attention. While much of the attention focused on iPod accessories, it was also clear that a number of large, branded vendors now would desperately like to put Apple out of business. And it often seems that Apple is doing its best to help them.
Once again, Mr Enderle shows an unnatural preoccupation with a company that he asserts has no future. What did happen this year at CES: Bill Gates, the surrogate father of Wintel fan boys, drowns in the midst of a dog-and-pony show to demo the media PC. The system failed for whatever reason and a comedy bit was lost forever, tragic really. A massive number of gadgets and do-dads where released. little TVs that allow you to view video while walking (no charge for the nausea) and watches that tell you it's cloudy in soft feminine tones. Is Rob interested in any of these noteworthy and important developments, not really. No CES is just another opportunity for him to write about Apple's stupid decisions. So no Rob, Apple didn't show up, but it seems it will take more than their absence for you to move on. regards
