market that it pioneered are well documented. Last week at the Consumer Electronics Show, the company announced a host of premium services designed to compete against the ever-encroaching DVR boxes from cable and satellite TV providers.
The entertainment industry is not TiVo's friend. To satisfy cable and broadcast interests is to walk away from the impact the internet will have on media -- and I am not talking about theft of programming. TiVo will become the in home on demand hub for entertainment or it will diaappear. There is a huge amount of audio and video work that major labels refuse to distribute. If TiVo can become the distribution channel of choice for the disenfranchised artists, then the others will eventually follow.
