A couple of weeks ago I wrote about how Google was on track to become the next “Evil Empire” because they were increasingly behaving as if they were the center of the universe. The central theme of the piece was how companies, particularly those that grow very quickly, can lose track of their ethics and, by placing their needs in front of all others, move from being widely admired to widely despised.
I couldn't agree more with your article. It is my intention to personally boycott ALL Sony products (even films at theaters) unless and until Sony (1) makes what industry insiders feel is a SINCERE apology to consumers, (2) offers free, timely, and substantive technical support to those infected with their rootkit - up to and including replacement of their computer at no cost if need be, and (3) makes a sincere promise to never EVER pull a stunt like this again. By the way, firing the executive masterminds behind the deployment of this rootkit would be a good start toward making that sincere apology.
Why You Shouldn’t Buy Products From Sony This Season
