The European recording industry announced a wave of new lawsuits against alleged illegal music file traders this week, but the move was seen as more of a ripple in the vast ocean of peer-to-peer activity. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, the European equivalent of the Recording Industry Association of America, announced almost 2,000 new lawsuits against alleged copyright infringers who did so online.
