Technology Auction Could Breed Patent Trolls

Hundreds of technology patents from Fortune 500 companies will go to the highest bidders on Thursday in what could be the first live, multi-lot technology patent auction in the United States. Sellers in the auction include Siemens, BellSouth, AT&T, Kimberly Clark and 3Com, as well as mid-sized companies and notable individual inventors. The patents are estimated in value from US$100,000 to more than $5 million.
