In an apparent move to challenge Apple’s iPod music player, Verizon Wireless on Monday announced that its V Cast Music service will offer individually priced downloads. The competitive announcement that voids the US$15 monthly fee for Verizon’s music service comes in conjunction with the wireless provider’s launch of Chocolate by LG, the latest mobile music phone.
I love the idea of the all in one device. However, I'm still waiting for someone to do it right. The key to this article, imho is this line: "A full line of music accessories that includes enough memory to hold up to 1,000 songs" I feel like this is a skirt around advertising a number in gigabytes that the device will hold. For me, the Ipod is all about storage and ease of use. The closest I've gotten to an all in one device was a Mobile 5.0 device, but it just didn't have the storage for my music collection and was a pain the neck from a usability point of view. So I eventually went back to my blackberry/ipod combo. I think if V can can get the great business features, storage and ease of use common to both the blackberry and the ipod, they would have a product I'd consider, even at at a higher price point.
