In a case considered by many to be the first of its kind, the World Organization for Human Rights USA announced Thursday that it has filed a lawsuit against Yahoo and its subsidiaries for what it calls the Internet giant’s complicity in human rights abuses and acts of torture in China. Plaintiffs in the case include Wang Xiaoning, who is serving a 10-year sentence in China, his San Francisco-based wife, Yu Ling, and other yet-to-be-named dissidents.
