Called “OpenSocial,” it provides tools for developers to create applications and widgets that can be ported to any participating network. Partners that have signed on range from Friendster to Plaxo to Salesforce.com — and, most notably, in the last 24 hours, MySpace and Bebo. For the moment, though, interest in the OpenSocial rollout is highest among developers — and, of course, competitors. The former will likely have some effect on the latter.
