The platform is the result of a collaboration including T-Mobile, HTC, Qualcomm, Motorola and others through the Open Handset Alliance, a new multinational alliance of 34 technology and mobile industry leaders that seeks to foster innovation and lower the cost of developing and distributing mobile devices and services.
