The potential health and environmental consequences of nanotechnology are a source of greater concern to scientists than to the public at large, according to a new study. The research, which was funded by the National Science Foundation and conducted by researchers at the University of Wisconsin at Madison and Arizona State University, included a national telephone survey of American households along with a sampling of 363 leading U.S. nanotechnology scientists and engineers.
