Back in early October — nearly three months before Umar Abdulmutallab tried to blow up a jetliner bound for Detroit — the Transportation Security Administration’s blog cheerily announced it had received $355 million of Recovery Act money for “a lot of really nifty improvements to aviation security.” Included in that amount: $25 million to pay for 150 backscatter advanced imaging units which allow screeners to detect threats under people’s clothes.
Is the CIA importuning terrorist events?
The CIA had a report....from this depressed child's Father, no less, that the kid was radicalized. The CIA got the report, and then
sat on it. The CIA, FBI, NSA, well those guys trotted out that one trick pony that they were not able to communicate data after 911. The Patriot Act was then passed, so they could talk without violating our rights here. That was a facetious lie, folks.
So then they put millions in a terror database, including Senator Kennedy, to stop this type of exploit. So they cannot say any longer the Patriot Act was intended for anything but gathering data on Americans. They get data on dangerous fliers from overseas, AND SIT ON IT? There is something deeply insipid about a government that puts its people at risk so they can then exploit the grave results.
They get actionable data, and then sit on it?
Apparently they WANT TERRORISTS TO STRIKE, in furtherance of their Total Information Awareness goals.
The backscatter, a million of them, folks...cannot fix the problem of the CIA allowing us to be put in danger deliberately. Travelers don't need to be monitored nearly as much as the CIA operatives. They are the danger now. Put cameras in their offices, bugs on their phones, and find the real bad guys trying to destabilize our constitutional democracy.
Terrorist Attempt May Strip Fliers of More Privacy
