The Daily Show with Jon Stewart dropped off the air last week. It is kind of amazing that it was how a massive number of us actually kept up on the news, given it wasn’t a real news program. However, while the show was a commercial success, it appeared that wasn’t its only goal. It seemed it also wanted to make us aware of some of the really stupid things people did, in the hope of making us all smarter. Well, last week it showcased that even those who should have gotten that message didn’t.
Jon Stewart as well as Stephen Colbert just stop being funny. They became obsessed with attacking rather then being political comedians with equal unbiased comedy to all politics. I know Stewart had plenty of liberal writers who pretty much was totally biased towards Democrat's. Stephen Colbert was about as bad.
Jay Leno was at least a comedian who attack any politician who did something dumb and could be funny about it. Stewart and Colbert just became people with a grudge. Its also why Colbert is tanking with the Tonight Show. People are just tired of him.
Either we will reach the "Singularity" [evolving into a new species part artificial intelligence] or we will disappear from the earth [6th extinction]. How many dinosaurs do you see running down the street? How many passenger pigeons covering the sky? We are dangerous. We are destroying our ecosystem. What do you suggest we do?
It's a shame what happened to Jon Stewart. Over the past couple of years he went from being one of the most entertaining people on tv to morphing into Jerry Lewis. His jokes would frequently bomb which would lead into his funny voices and faces routine. It's good that he recognized what was happening and left before it got any worse.
For fifteen years Mr. Stewart used humor and satire to show us the folly of our leaders and introduce us to alternative thinkers.
If anyone failed it was the media in not picking up on his points and bringing them into the mainstream.
It is the people's fault for not opening their eyes to reality.
Mr. Stewart is not at fault. He did not fail.
Saying he did is only a way to get people to click on the article.
I love John Stewart and I completely agree with your opinion on the intention of the Daily Show under his tenure.
I just wanted to share this little bit of information, but for a long time, there have been people earnestly trying to get people to think. I was wondering what your thoughts might be if you heard the same message from an unexpected source. You might enjoy this Episode of "Life is Worth Living" from the 1950's.
Why Jon Stewart Failed
