Watching the Republican debates has been a fascinating experience for me, because I started following Carly Fiorina when she first took over HP. I thought then and I still think that Steve Jobs was the only one to match her on-stage presence and skill set. History has proven her assertion that it was HP’s board, not it’s CEO, that was the primary problem that needed to be fixed while she was there — although that also points to her biggest credibility problem now.
Mr. Enderle forgets that Trump controls his companies, while Ms. Forina didn't own a controlling interest in HP. While Mr. Trump could fire his board, Ms. Forina didn't have that kind of power at HP. Mr. Trump couldn't fire Congress. There's no reason to think he could be more persuasive in getting action from Congress than Carly Forina. In fact, his abrasive comments probably wouldn't put Congress in a cooperative mood.
Yes but remember Carly was Executive Chairman at HP much like Ellison is at Oracle. Until she was asked to step down from that role she had far more control of the board than Obama does of congress yet failed to translate that control into success. Trump has no issues going after anyone that crosses him personally and politicians live on reputation. I'm not saying this is right but Trump has demonstrated a tool that works while Carly didn't use the tool she had effectively. Agree on the comments but he seems to be able to overcome that. Don't get me wrong I doubt we'd survive Trump but credit where credit is due.
