The latest version of Apple’s streaming media set-top box, expected to hit U.S. retail stores on Friday, has gathered a bundle of mixed early reviews. Some reviewers saw great potential in the $149 diminutive black box designed to pump movies, TV shows, games and apps from the Internet to a television set. Others found plenty to criticize. “Functionally, it’s the biggest change we’ve seen to Apple TV since its introduction,” Ross Rubin, principal analyst with Reticle Research.
I have used many Apple products for several years. Have owned a few Mac's a Airport Extreme, a iPad, and several iPods. I even tried to like Apple TV but never did. For one I can buy cheaper content elsewhere because I am offered more SD content choice. Not everything I watch needs to be HD. Second, I found Apple never really wanted to embrace having the likes of Netflix and Amazon and Google Play on the Apple TV. Again, Apple tries to tie a user up with their ecosystem. This new Apple TV appears to be more of the same for Apple. Sell you some gimmicky features, charge a premium and make a fortune on the Apple flock. I finally sold off my last Macbook Air and went back to a PC. I'll be damn if I pay $1999 for a 15" Macbook Pro because its the only 15 inch Mac notebook. This seems the pattern with Apple these days. Milk the flock for all they have offering little back in evolutionary products. I have finally woke up from my Apple juice zombie impulse buying mode for Apple. Now I see a better more practical mode of spending. Not much of it will be with Apple products. Somehow I have lost faith in what Apple is doing is of benefit to me the customer.
