Facebook top dog Mark Zuckerberg had several of his social media accounts breached and defaced, according to reports that surfaced Sunday. Zuckerberg’s Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest memberships were hacked, but evidence of the attacks quickly disappeared. In addition to requiring passwords, Twitter and LinkedIn protect their accounts with optional two-factor authentication. “My guess is that Zuckerberg did not have [2FA] turned on on these sites,” said Centrify security strategist Chris Webber.
People like Zuckerberg just fall into success with really not much between their ears. Facebook was successful because it just happened to come at the right time. You would think with how big Facebook has become and how important it would be for a Mark Zuckerberg to maintain security of his account especially someone in technology who should understand those risks. Unfortunately success does not make you a brilliant person nor does it make you a brilliant CEO. But it also points out if you cannot manage your own security well. Then how can anyone expect you could protect others?
