Twitter on Tuesday announced yet another crackdown on abusers. With the goal of making Twitter a safer place, it has come up with new ways to prevent the creation of new abusive accounts;
make search safer; and collapse potentially abusive or low-quality tweets. Twitter also pledged to persist in its anti-abuse endeavors, saying it would keep rolling out product changes, some more visible than others, and updating users on its progress every step of the way. Twitter “is more vulnerable than other social media,” noted tech analyst Jim McGregor.
The thing I dislike most about this story is the fact that the alt-right is described as "advocating white supremacy and other extreme views" that is not true PERIOD. The alt-right believes in saying the truth even if it hurts peoples feelings and using conservative ideals to help the government. Yes there is some white supremacists who are part of the alt-right but that doesn't make everyone with that political view one. So please next time you write an story double check your facts. Thank you for understanding.
So Twitter continues with the "don't hurt my feelings" fix for what is obviously a free speech platform for people. Sometimes people say things that are not so flattering. I think it's not good to constantly focus on what is offensive vs what is a negative comment. Life is not full of people giving praise. Sometimes people are honest and give honest opinions that may not be so positive. So should we lie when people ask for our opinions? Have we become such one sided society that we cannot accept criticism? Twitter to me is just another social site that opened the door to every ones ability to speak their minds. Not everyone mind is censored. But should that censorship come from the entity that allows for a social exchange from users? Don't put yourself out there if you cannot take negative comments, or criticism. Their is no utopia, you want a dreamland don't live in the real world.
