Just as the Shadow Brokers hacker group started crowing about a dump of never-seen-before flaws in Windows, Microsoft announced it already had fixed most of the exploits. “Today, Microsoft triaged a large release of exploits made publicly available by Shadow Brokers,” said Microsoft Principal Security Group Manager Phillip Misner. “Most of the exploits are already patched.” Three of the zero day vulnerabilities, which the hackers claimed were leaked from the NSA, did not work at all on Windows 7 and above.
I have a very solid solution to this problem. Migrate to Linux. Or BSD. Windows has always been, and will continue to be the most vulnerable and targeted possible OS. I used to suggest multi-boot setups, until some goons repeatedly had my Craigslist posting offering a dualboot machine removed-- presumably for some technical violation of MS's domination of the boot process? (It's a mysterious process and they don't tell you why, they just remove it.) Now I suggest to everyone: DELETE WINDOWS. Total waste of time, effort, & money.
