The scene in A Few Good Men with Jack Nicholson going off on handling the truth has been coming to mind way too often of late. Sadly, this is the world we are living in right now, and social media is at the heart of it. I recently noticed a headline that implied a lot of people had taken exception to something Gal Gadot, the woman who impressively portrayed Wonder Woman in the movie of the same name, tweeted about Stephen Hawking. I fell for it — only to discover that the clear majority of folks actually supported what Gadot had tweeted.
The "official" news on the TV/Radio/Papers is fake. "Social" media is just an extension of it. There is nothing "social" about facebook, twitter and all the rest of them, it creates bubbles of mindless slaves. Turn off the TV, shut down the social media, you will find your life will be better without it
Fake news and Facebook are the problem with the current world. Too many speaking their minds and everyone analysing and picking it apart in a hope to generate profits in some form or another. I'm so tired of everyone telling me what news is instead of what actual news is. I've since become a social hermit, not bothering to check Facebook more than once a week and generally avoiding all "news" unless its reviews or previews of technology. People have become lazy and easily swayed into taking sides of ideas that have nothing to do with anyone. Least of all with me. My daily life goes on regardless.
Fake News Has Become an Existential Threat
