One of the most powerful political organizations in the U.S. is the NRA. The president of the United States recently claimed he wasn’t afraid of the NRA, only to have an NRA spokesperson — not the president himself — later announce that the president had changed his mind. It was painful to watch the most powerful man in the free world be treated like a small child. The cornerstone of the NRA’s platform to sell more guns is the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Its original intent has been perverted over the years.
Wow, can't be more biased and inaccurate in your monolog. Is this what Tech News is about????
My point to my Grandfather wasn't that Nuclear Energy was dangerous, it was that you needed to take into account the fears of the residents and mitigate them. I agree that now the power source is relatively safe, however we have had 3 catastrophic failures using the old technology and this plant, the one my Grandfather was talking about, San Onofre was shut down. In fact there have been a ton of these billion dollar plants decommissioned: https://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/fact-sheets/decommissioning.html
This represented a massive avoidable waste of money.
As far as the NRA's revolution to shift from protecting gun owners to selling guns (circa 1968) that too has been well documented. I quit the NRA about a decade later. https://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/fact-sheets/decommissioning.html
I'm not saying I even support getting rid of the 2nd amendment, though it has largely outlived the time it was useful (an organization like the Minute Men wouldn't be mission effective today against armed drones). I'm just saying that the NRA is basically making people choose between kids lives and that Amendment and I believe the majority of voters would choose the kids. Let's revisit this after the mid-term.
One final remark, ad-hominem attacks are used when a person has the weaker argument. Let's cut down on the name calling and focus on the facts.
TechNewsWorld is great pub - PUBLISHER should make the superscription of OPINION as large as possible above all Enderle "stories"
This guy Rob is clearly unaware of how the second amendment came to be...I suspect his grandfather was aware of and educated on King George and the events that led up to creating Second Amendment and obvious need of self preservation.
lol most powerful man in the free world. lol yer alright. Most well known puppet. Social media is not powerful, its terrible. Creating bubbles of idiots reading fake news and propaganda. More distraction for the mindless slave masses
If you believe that the NRA's platform is to sell more guns, republicans were put into power by Russian Facebook trolls, that Cambridge Analytica had any influence on anything what-so-ever, and that the second amendment has any meaning or lost intention other than " the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Then its clear that all you are doing is regurgitating the media talking points that you have been spoon fed. You really are as foolish as your grandfather observed.
Tell me this since you are such an advocate of technology, Is nuclear power something that we should shun away from because of the overinflated fears of the public created by Hollywood and the media? Was one of the cleanest, most reliable energy sources known to man shut down because of real problems or because of "concerns"
and here's where you really lose ground "Most of us are hardwired to protect kids. Regardless of our stance on guns" This is where you chose pathos over logos, and elevate illogical and inflamed emotional responses over rational logical thought.
finally when you say
..."the NRA and the Second Amendment are toast." I am joining your gramps in a laugh at your expense at this thought, to which I have only one thing to say. Not in my lifetime
The Power of Social Media and the Coming Repeal of the 2nd Amendment
