In the past few months, it seemed as if new mergers were being announced every week. High-profile players like PeopleSoft and J.D. Edwards, as well as EMC and Legato Systems, found they had enough in common to join forces. Meanwhile, Oracle attempted to convince PeopleSoft shareholders that it would be a better partner for the ERP giant than J.D. Edwards. Although the merger scene has calmed somewhat, some interesting unions still could take place in the future. Which companies could be next to walk down the corporate aisle?

I differ the author's suggestion for more mergers.
If a merger is seen as a new value addition to the customers, then it is not all that right. The con side of mergers is that it would kill competition. Imagine in case Siebel merges with an ERP giant like SAP (who is also into CRM) then the competition in CRM would die. We already know how monopoly kills competition. Of course I'm speaking of Microsoft!
Let's not put an end to innovations in software solutions by merging!
