Eighty-one percent of small businesses that maintained an online presence during last year's holiday season reached new customers, leading to an increase in sales and profitability, according to a new Harris Interactive survey released by Yahoo! That seems like a compelling figure, but most small businesses are still relying on offline sales for the majority of their revenue, Gartner research director Mika Krammer told the E-Commerce Times.

I agree completely. Being in Canada, we see tons of good solid companies that could stand to be online steer clear of related. Unfortunately, millions of Canadians still shop online... and are constantly going to the US for their products. Being a Yahoo! Stores certified designer in Canada, we do see quite a few companies opt for this great platform. Again, another unfortunate problem is very few... the now infamous dot com bubble. I think we need to see more companies get profitable online, as brand awareness suffers and now that platforms such as Yahoo stores exists, there simply is no excuse for losing money, this or future holiday seasons.
