There are some trends in the wind, and from what I'm seeing, I'm wondering if we're not heading toward a larger iPad. First, Mac sales were down a bit last quarter. No big deal -- there haven't been any major upgrades, and the MacBook Air upgrade came late in June. Sold well, apparently. Still, it's clear that an awful lot of traditional computing has shifted to smartphones and tablets. Personally, even when a laptop is relatively handy, I'll see friends, family, colleagues and strangers look up things on their smaller mobile devices.

I was thinking the 13" MBP retina screen could be the basis for a large iPad. The hi-res without the high cost could be good.
But speaking of large tablets, I saw the Panasonic 20" 4K tablet prototype at a trade show last month. Very impressive. Looked at some CAD drawings, and it was nice to be able to view on a screen close to 11" x 17" and still have a lot of detail visible.
