A while back, I read a heated discussion about Apple's supposed moral obligation to the enterprise. The context was that Apple should endeavor to make products that are both fun to use, compelling and check all the enterprise boxes. The failure to fully penetrate the enterprise was presented as a deficiency of Apple's. I am going to tell you that the problem is not with Apple, but rather it is a cultural problem that needs to be solved by the Apple community and Apple enthusiasts in the workforce.

This essay is one of a spate of recent articles on Apple's
purported unsuitability of the iPhone in corporate America.
E.g. Barron's Eric Savitz posted sample company policy
on iPhone "dangers" in his March 3 piece:
However, can someone explain to me why one Fortune 500
company now harbors literally thousands of iPhones, with
no security or email problems to speak of? It's not hard
to find out who they are, but such an existence proof shows
that most of this IT department handwringing is disinformation.
How is it they they have little trouble issuing iPhones,
but others do? Think about it, iPhone has multiple
levels of security (4-digit PIN, just as for the mini
bank vaults called ATMs), allowance for user name/passwd
login to proprietary company webpages, RSA authentication
for those who must, all with compatibility with Cisco VPN
server software, firewalls, and what have you. They use
standard email systems side-by-side with the Blackberry
environment, which is shrinking rapidly since the event,
a pilot program followed by a very business-like AT&T-supported corporate iPhone purchase.
Back to Martellero's thoughts, I chuckled about the
Miss Manners guide to demonstrating company team spirit.
But please know there are enlightened businesses
who have *already* accepted iPhone on its own merit, as it
provides many with a very (yes corporate)
competitive advantage.

Good article overall, and I'm definitely one of those who show off my iPhone every chance I get; but I don't call other companies products crap. And I have a big Apple logo on my car demonstrating that I do "Think Different."
But I really don't see the need for Apple to sell to the enterprise market. My observations is that the enterprise market is a one that's growing stale and has reached the point of diminshing returns. If I were leading Apple's marketing efforts I would focus on the small business and individuals that run companies without IT departments. That's were a quick and profitable sale can be made- not selling to some IT guys that's trying to milk you for every penny.
Clint Eastwood said,"A man has got to know his limtations," and so does a company. Why sell to people that call your products toys? Let them play with their own toys.

Go with the flow, but start looking for different employment.
Resign immediately, so I can dedicate all of my time to find a job that better suits my needs.
Try to negotiate a hybrid work from home / work in office arrangement with my employer.
