Sprint plans to lay off about 2,500 employees, including five vice presidents, according to news reports this week. About 2,000 of the cuts are in customer service. The company reportedly will close or reduce operations at customer care centers at its Overland Park headquarters in Kansas, and in Colorado, New Mexico, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. Customers can handle routine inquiries such as checking bill balances, making payments, and checking on device upgrade status and phone lease status online or through the Sprint Zone app.

If your in a turn around and are laying off sales reps. Not sure if your focusing on more customers?
The biggest failure of Sprint and Nextel was their over investment in NASCAR like marketing. Total waste of money when improving infrastructure and improving customer service would have been more effective. These days you cannot just sell yourself as great by doing lot's of marketing. Eventually churn will kill you when you cannot provide the service that you market.
