HP on Monday unveiled the Windows-based Stream laptop some have referred to as a “Chromebook killer,” but instead of sporting the $199 price that was expected, it will cost $299. Featuring a 1366 x 768 display, 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of local storage, the new 14-inch machine is powered by an AMD A4 Micro processor with a fanless design. It comes with 100 GB of space on Microsoft’s OneDrive cloud storage service for two years, included at no additional cost for a limited time.
I'll wait till I read some reviews, of course, but at this price I don't think there is much room for this device to thrive.
It sounds like any other low-end PC laptop, and I think the market has proven Chromebooks are the tools to beat for light duty/internet use.
I worry that this is too underpowered to do my Photography on, and too much to surf the web and write my blog on.
At this point, I doubt it will even give Chromebook a bad cough, much less 'kill' it.
