Terry Gou, chief of Foxconn, has confirmed that Apple has an iTV in the works. The news, which instantly sent the consumer electronics industry into a tizzy, came in an article focused on the company's plans to expand into e-commerce and distribution. Yes, an iTV is coming, according to Gou, who dropped a few details about the product, even though neither development nor manufacturing has begun.

Dish Offers New Ad-Vanishing DVR Service May 11, 2012 
Dish Network began offering a new service Thursday that lets users skip all commercials for shows broadcast on major networks when watched the day after the programming first aired. Dubbed "Auto Hop," the feature on Dish Network's digital video recorders allows users to bypass commercials on recorded HD prime-time programs from ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC.

If rumors are to be believed, it could rival a TV infomercial's promise -- "but wait, there's more" -- by including the Kinect motion control sensor with a 4 GB version of the game console. However, as with the infomercials, there is fine print, which in this case details a monthly subscription fee of $15.

Amazon: Hey, Gang - Let's Put On a Show! May 02, 2012 
Amazon is taking the long-expected step of developing its own content for Amazon Instant Video.
It is doing so via its content development division, Amazon Studios, which uses audience feedback to suggest content for its customers. Now it has pushed this model further, though, inviting series creators to upload proposals for comedy and children's programming. Those selected will be distributed through Amazon Instant Video.

Microsoft Carves a Notch in Nook May 01, 2012 
Microsoft on Monday said it will pay $300 million to get a piece of Barnes & Noble's Nook tablet action for the Windows 8 platform. The two companies will partner in a new Barnes & Noble subsidiary which will push further into the education market. Barnes & Noble will initially create a Nook app for Windows 8.

Netflix Struggles to Right Itself April 23, 2012 
What a difference a year makes. Netflix, the tech industry's golden child last spring, has been struggling to overcome a series of missteps it made later in 2011. There is guarded optimism that when the company posts its fiscal first quarter report after the closing bell on Monday, some progress will be evident. However, Netflix is expected to report a net loss of $9 million to $27 million for the quarter.
