A funny thing happened to visitors to the New York Auto Show on Tuesday -- they got to see a concept electric car created jointly by two companies: Segway and General Motors. The prototype vehicle, named "Project PUMA," is an electrically powered two-seater with two wheels that can travel up to 35 miles between recharges. It basically consists of two Segway PTs in a chassis with a transparent shield covering the top and front, and an electric drive and batteries from GM.

GM CEO was fired by OBAMA

I love my conservative friends who said Obama had no right to fire the CEO of GM. I say he's correct....the big 3 are out of touch. "if you want bail out money, you'd better change your ways!"
The current CEO, Nardelly just left Home Depot after almost destroying them. Now he is doing a great job with Chrysler. We need a cheap electric , no frills, commuter car on one end. Then maybe a Chevy Volt in a few years as the family 2nd car. Not their only offering at $35,000 at this depressed time. These American car companies are indeed in the weeds.

And they wonder why they're broke. I guess you would have to have extra batteries so that you could change it every 35 miles, LOL. I think I would rather go back to horse and buggy days. Walking is very good excersise too. Thanks for the post.

GM and other carmakers cannot survive

Too little, too late. Companies that focus on individual transportation will produce unviable products for a crowded world. If by 2040 earth will have a population of 9 billion people, natural resources will be stretched beyond sustainable limits and we would have to pave over parks and sidewalks to accommodate individual transportation devices - And that is the exact opposite of what we need to do. The future of transportation is a good pair of walking shoes, or at most, rollerblades and bicycles.

GM is in La-La land

No wonder GM is on the verge of bankruptcy - what the hell is management thinking? These guys are so out of touch it's amazing. If this is indicative of our top auto brain trust, the Indians and Chinese are going to kick our rear ends!!

GM is SMOKING CRACK!

What the hell are they thinking?

This isn't what the public wants!

We want somewhat safe, high milage, low footprint cars. A two seat Segway is NOT the ticket.

Of course, we do want trucks too, but that is a different issue. At the low end, we want the Insite, the Prius, the Focus, and certainly not the GOD AWFUL Cobalt. What an awful car. GM should be ashamed!

I rent about 60 cars a year, and I walk away from the counter if the only car available is a Cobalt. GM should be ASHAMED! IT IS JUST DREADFUL!
