Government Surveillance: What to Do, What to Do?

It's not so much that intelligence agencies spy on people. After all, that's their job, contended law professor Derek Bambauer. The question is whether their operations are legally sanctioned. U.S. persons "might" have some Fourth Amendment claims against surveillance, he said, "but the Supreme Court has been very careful never to address this issue, and I don't expect it to do so."

Google's Low-Fee Fi: Ho-Hum

Project Fi's $20 monthly starting price is appealing, but the plan loses some of its luster when you add on $10/GB data fees and taxes -- not to mention early termination fees with existing carriers. Is native advertising good for journalism?
Yes -- It's a reasonable source of additional revenue for media outlets to support their traditional editorial efforts.
Yes -- Paid-for articles can contain useful information, but readers might bypass them if they look too much like ads.
Maybe -- But only if it's clearly labeled as paid-for content.
No -- I don't trust any information from media outlets that cloak paid-for content as objective journalism.
No -- Native advertising is confusing and devious, and it threatens the fabric of traditional journalism.
I Don't Know -- I don't understand what native advertising is.
