Bash Shellshock Bug Patched but Not Pummeled


The BASH Shellshock bug won't die easily. "Fixing Shellshock will be difficult, because the exploit builds upon a key extension to BASH command line functionality, specifically for remote invocation of commands, scripts and other applications," said Black Duck Consulting's Bill Weinberg. "Shutting down the exploitable functionality will hobble some of the most useful BASH capabilities."

DIY Pi-Top Computer Lets Users Get Under the Hood


One of the most valuable things about the Pi-Top process is that its assembly leads users to appreciate computing more viscerally and intimately than a simple trip to Best Buy or Amazon does, noted Charles King, principal analyst for Pund-IT. "Just because personal computing has become commoditized doesn't mean that users need to limit themselves to being mere consumers."
