Or are you one of the millions of Americans no longer getting physical checks returned, but instead receiving scanned images as mailed copies? If so, welcome to the digital age of banking. This trend is not likely to lose steam anytime soon. In fact, Viewpointe, a provider of digital check and document imaging, archiving and retrieval services, predicts image retrievals will at least double in 2004.

It is not often I get a feeling of nostalgia from an ecommerce newsletter, but as a resident of the UK, articles on using cheques in shops brings back memories of the 1980s, before we all succumbed to the lure of plastic.
