With the explosive amounts of electronic information being generated daily, it's no wonder many companies are considering alternative storage options. None of these options has generated more interest than cloud-based systems. Companies are looking to cloud computing to ease the burden of information management and enhance business agility by provisioning technology infrastructure resources on the fly. The early buzz on cloud solutions is that it promises the flexibility that is essential to a growing business.
Interesting read, timely because of some things I'm working on so thanks. The phrase that struck home most for me was about standard project management. Define your scope and work within it wherever possible. With new potential on the cloud, normal rules still apply and don't get over excited!
You also touched on something I feel passionate about which is leveraging the knowledge of people who steward the data, who really "own it" for day-to-day professional value. We IT specialists tap into this understanding and translate it into technical experience. You refer to "accurate data mapping" needs "deep understanding".
The more we can improve communication in this layer the smoother the transition to adopting new technologies like cloud computing. I'm happy to see advances which empower the people who know to perhaps do their own mapping. Speed things up.
Thanks.
