Turner Broadcasting System officially launched GameTap, a Web site that offers, for US$14.95 a month, access to a catalog of old games that range from arcade offerings such as 1980s "Pac Man" to Tom Clancy's "Splinter Cell" from 2003. Turner is building GameTap as an online-only service in a bet the future of media lies increasingly in delivering entertainment via broadband, or high-speed Internet connections. Yet GameTap is still a variation of what Turner has done on TV for years -- acquire old programs, then rerun them in hopes of attracting new fans.
