IT Providers Stew Over Big Data Privacy Regulation


The software industry wants the government to "proceed cautiously" in addressing Big Data policy issues so as to ensure the technology can develop productively. "Whenever policymakers conduct a policy review of a rapidly evolving new development like Big Data, we fear that a rush to develop new policies could stifle innovative outcomes and threaten broad public benefits," said SIIA's David LeDuc.

Heartbleed's Never-Ending Drip, Drip, Drip


It's going to take a while to clean up Heartbleed's bloody mess. "If history is any lesson, when Internet-scale vulnerabilities are announced that require firmware updates, we can count on a persistently vulnerable population of devices," said Easy Solutions CTO Daniel Ingevaldson. "This population may stay vulnerable for years, or until these devices become obsolete and are replaced."
