Amazon Mints Coins and Makes Deposits in All Kindle Fires


All Kindle Fires have a little extra change rattling around in their Amazon accounts, courtesy of the company's new Coins virtual currency. Everybody who owns the tablet got $5 worth of Coins on Monday, and Amazon hopes that will boost consumer in-app purchases while also getting more developers to work on supporting the Kindle platform.

Icahn Leads New Pitch to Win Dell Shareholders


Billionaire investor Carl Icahn has put forth another proposal to keep Michael Dell from rebuilding his computer business as a private company. Along with some blistering criticism of Dell, Icahn and investment partner Southeastern Asset Management believe the company still has value to offer as a public entity. Dell's shareholders will consider the new plan, but the clock is ticking to turn the company around.
